Barry M - 'Bold Gold Waterproof Eyeliner'

I don't tend to mix up my make-up look too much or try new make-up trends like I do with fashion. However, I came across this look in this week's Look  magazine and thought it seemed like something I could have a go at!

The 'Double Flick' is pretty self-explanatory. It's basically two flicks of eyeliner on the top lid, parallel to each other. Apparently it's set to be a big summer make-up trend with bright summery shades to make sure all eyes are on well, your eyes!

I went with a black liquid eyeliner closest to the lashes and a gold pencil eyeliner by Barry M above it. Initially I did the black line first and then attempted to do the gold line above, but as the tip of the Barry M pencil is quite thick it was difficult to stop it spilling over onto the black line. So instead I did a bold flick of the gold first and finished it off with a thin black line as close to the lashes as I could.

I'm really pleased with how this turned out! I was also impressed by how gold the Barry M  pencil was - it wasn't at all transparent or hard to see as I've found with other metallic eyeliners. I'd definitely wear this make-up look again - it'd be perfect for an evening look too! I'd also like to try this trend with a more subtle second shade like grey or purple for something a bit more casual.

Have you tried the double flick before?

We all know that British weather can't be counted upon, which means a cosy knit is essential for throwing on when the sun fails to make an appearance! Cardigans are great for this time of year because they don't completely cover up a pretty summer outfit as a jumper would. This one is great for a casual daytime look. I love the slouchy waterfall style and light colour - this makes it a perfect choice for a spring/summer cover-up.

I also love the low-heeled ankle boots - as the photo shows, they're pretty well worn. Being a short girl I can get away with daytime heels without looking overdone - there's no danger of looking too tall! The simple style of this pair means they go with pretty much anything and they're my go-to pair for smartening up a casual outfit.

Trend of the Week: Pointed Flats

I decided to talk about pointed flats this week because I've literally been seeing them everywhere - online and on the high-street. These are a great choice for summer days when you fancy something a bit smarter than sandals but don't want to wear heels. They're ideal for day-to-night wear because there'd be no need to change shoes!

A key element of this trend is to go for bright colours or for contrasting colours at the front and back like the monochrome Next pair. 'Two part' shoes are also popular, where the toe and heel aren't connected. I think they look great, but to me they look like they'd be really hard to walk in - wouldn't they slip off easily? (If anyone owns a pair of these please enlighten me!).

I think these are a great option for an alternative stylish summer shoe as they could easily be dressed up or down. They'd also go with a lot (cigarette trousers, summer dresses etc.) and would be perfect for a number of occasions!

What do you think of this trend?

H&M Nail Polish in Chica Boom Boom
After a little break from blogging due to exams and revision I can finally wear nice clothes, make an effort with my hair and do my nails again! They were looking a little worse for wear after neglecting them slightly, so I fancied a nice bright colour to remind me that my exams are over and summer is finally here!

Bright orange is a huge colour this season especially on lips and nails. It's such a summery colour and will look amazing with a tan. If you can find a big H&M they always seem to have a good selection of bright nail shades like this one!

The weather is brightening up and finally the prospect of leaving the house in just a t-shirt isn't so far away! Daisy print seems to be a big trend this summer - I've been seeing it everywhere recently. I picked this tee up from Primark a while ago for about £8 which is such a bargain. My favourite way to wear it is casual like this, teamed with my favourite Topshop Leigh's and my new Converse - how long are they gonna stay this white?!

The headband is one of my favourite pieces of this outfit. I've bought countless little hair accessories before but somehow they always seem to get forgotten. I bought this one recently in a set of two and I'm determined that I'm actually going to wear them this summer! Cute accessories are a perfect way to add a nice summery touch to a simple, casual outfit.

Crochet is such a cute and pretty trend this season and is ideal for creating a romantic, vintage-y look. Crochet is always perfect for spring/summer, but this year a particularly "on-trend" look is the crochet trim especially seen on crop tops and dresses like the two New Look items.

This trend is also easy to incorporate whether you want to go casual or for something a little bit nicer. Cream or white all-over crochet items such as the Dorothy Perkins top or the Topshop shorts are perfect for summer parties or drinks. But if you want to keep it more laid-back go for a colour with some subtle crochet detailing.

Accessories are also getting in on the crochet trend and will instantly give your look a summer lift! The H&M brogues are a particular favourite of mine - I love their vintage, summer style! Crochet bikinis are all over the high-street too - there are so many different colours and styles but I love the classic black. Perfect if you're after something a bit more special than a regular bikini!

The £5 Mini Pamper Night

Love From Lisa, £5 Mini Pamper Night Essential Products
Montagne Jeunesse Mask - £1
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle - £1.09
Soap & Glory Body Buff - £2.50

As a little treat it's always nice to have a bit of a pamper evening, it's a great way to de-stress after a day of working, studying, or in my case, revising! I like to try out new things but if you're trying to save the pennies it can all add up! So I thought I'd see if I could put together a mini pamper night with a £5 budget.

I've done too many of these Montagne Jeunesse masks to count, but they're so cheap and ideal if you're having your bezzies over for a chilled night in. My favourites are the peel ones because it's SO satisfying to peel off in one go. They also make my skin feel deeply cleansed.

The second sachet is one of the 3 Minute Miracles by Aussie. I've never actually tried one of these before, but I'm hoping they smell as good and work as well as the regular Aussie hair products. I chose the reconstructor deep conditioner to give my hair a much-needed treat.

The one I'm most excited about is the Soap & Glory Scrub 'Em and Leave 'Em Body Buff which is a body scrub that you use in either the bath or shower. It smells delicious and body scrubs aren't something I use very regularly so it's perfect for my budget pamper night!

What are your favourite budget pamper essentials?

Nails of the Week : Bright Colour-Pop Turquoise

No nail art this week - I thought this colour pretty much speaks for itself! My bezzie bought me this as a little present the other day when she came back from America. It's an Essie shade in 'In The Cab-Ana' and is a gorgeously bright turquoise. I always stop to admire the Essie nail varnishes, for some reason the cute little bottles seem to make them look even prettier, but this one is actually my first Essie polish! They are a bit pricey for me at the moment, so this one is a lovely little treat!

As you might expect for a more expensive nail polish, the quality is great. It applied so smoothly and you could probably get away with just one coat, although I really wanted mine to be a pop of bright colour so I applied two. I also finished it off with a topcoat to make them super super shiny. I was really into pretty, muted pastel shades but recently I'm swaying over to bright colours - I need to get my hands on some neon shades too!

Trend of the Week : Tropical Print

Tropical prints are a huge trend at the moment - think bright colours, big floral prints and palm trees! So perfect for the fast-approaching festival and holiday season, the bolder and crazier the print the better! These are just a few of my favourite picks from the high-street at the moment, there's so much to choose from though.

This print is great because it works on pretty much any item; skirts, tops, dresses, trousers - I've even thrown in a tropical print watch! If you don't fancy going all out, go for tropical-inspired accessories like this Topshop headband or pair the New Look skirt with a simple white cami top. However for a gorgeous holiday look or when it's really hot here, I think the Missguided two-piece is perfect! Obviously you don't have to wear them both at the same time but I think the cropped vest and skirt look great together, and it's a nice alternative to a dress.

My other favourites are the trousers as they're so versatile. At the same time they're perfect for daytime wear because they're so comfy and easy to throw on with a plain tee, or can be styled up for night-time with some platform heels.

(Excuse the squinty eyes - it was so sunny and hot whilst taking these photos!)

I'm always on the lookout for alternatives to jeans because I can get bored of reaching for them everyday. However, I do find buying other types of trousers quite difficult - they're always too baggy, or too long or just don't fit quite right. I came across these ones quite recently in H&M (find them here) and loved the pattern; they're different but as they're monochrome I thought they'd be really easy to style. Also they fit nicely and are a really good quality for such an affordable price. So overall, pretty perfect then!

This kind of trouser can be styled up easily to make a great night-outfit, however I wanted to keep it casual for the day so I teamed it with a slouchy-fit grey jumper. Apparently I have too many of this type of jumper but I can't resist them - they're so easy to wear! This was also a recent H&M buy (find it here) which they also had in other colours. Some are only £3 now, so I might have to snap up a few more! For a splash of summery colour I went for a bright bag; I like the whole monochrome + bright accessories look at the moment. The shoes are from Primark and were such a bargain (£4!) and I can tell I'm going to get so much wear out of them!
